“And I’ll use small words so that you’ll be sure to understand.”

We were asked:

Baby

Why Inconceivable?

That right there is the million dollar question. As you may or may not know, Erica and I have been trying for kids since early 2016. It’s been an extremely long journey, but the short version of the story is that we’re not able to have kids on our own. We eventually were forced to accept that fact and found a gestational carrier, or surrogate, to help us. She is now selflessly carrying our child – hence not “conceived” in a traditional manner.

But is it actually your child?

Yes. The child that our surrogate is carrying is 100% Erica’s and mine. We jointly created embryos, and had them cryogenically frozen years ago. As our remaining number of embryos began to dwindle, and it was no longer viable to continue trying ourselves, we had one medically transferred to our gestational carrier. She has a healthy and supportive family, and was overjoyed to step in to help us have a child of our own. We couldn’t be more thrilled!

When is baby due?

October 23, 2024. In early October, Erica and I will travel to be in the same city as our surrogate (Portland, OR) so we can be there the minute our little peanut arrives. We’ll then stay in town long enough to establish care and make sure they’re good and healthy before heading back home. Let the countdown begin!

Is there a registry? How can we help?

Yes. We’ve set up a registry at both Baby List and Amazon, whichever is most convenient. Because of our unique situation, we’ll need some items specifically for when the baby arrives and we’re in Oregon to meet them, and the rest for when we’ve arrived home with our new bundle of joy. If an item needs to be shipped to Oregon (which can save on tax versus shipping to CA), we’ve noted it on the registry.

The address to use for Oregon shipments is 23135 NE Arata Rd, Wood Village, OR 97060

The address to use for California shipments is 17442 Arminta St, Northridge, CA 91325
